Artificial Intelligence in Agritech & Agrifood: Data, Challenges and Opportunities

The webinar, organized by FBK and Confindustria, provides companies in the Agritech & Agrifood sector with an up-to-date overview of the opportunities offered by Artificial Intelligence, through an analysis of market dynamics, key use cases, and regulatory implication.

The webinar provides companies operating in the Agritech and Agrifood sectors with a comprehensive overview of Artificial Intelligence, combining market insights, business perspectives, and regulatory guidance.

Participants will gain a strategic understanding of the value AI can create within organizations, explore key application areas in agriculture and food production, and develop awareness of the main European and Italian regulatory obligations governing AI adoption and deployment.

Course Content and Programme

Module 1 – The AI Market in Agrifood (30 minutes)

Provide an overview of the Artificial Intelligence market in the Agrifood sector and illustrate the business value that AI technologies can generate across the industry.

  • Key market data and trends in the Agrifood sector in 2025.
  • The value and growth of the AI market for Agrifood in Italy.
  • Opportunities and competitive advantages enabled by AI adoption.

Module 2 – AI for Agrifood: Practical Use Cases (45 minutes)

Present concrete examples of AI adoption in Agrifood and introduce the services and technological capabilities made available through IT4LIA.

  • Smart Irrigation solutions.
  • Computer Vision applications for Agrifood.
  • Robotics for agriculture.
  • Decision Support Systems (DSS).
  • IT4LIA services and technological opportunities for the sector

Module 3 – Artificial Intelligence Regulation: The European AI Act, the AI Omnibus Reform and Italian Legislation (45 minutes)

Provide an overview of the regulatory framework governing Artificial Intelligence and the key compliance obligations that organizations face when developing or adopting AI solutions.

  • General principles of the European AI Act.
  • Obligations associated with different AI risk categories under the AI Act.
  • The AI Omnibus reform and its implications.
  • Entry into force of AI regulations and interaction with other European legislation.
  • The Italian legal framework for Artificial Intelligence.

The workshop is designed for companies operating in the Agritech and Agrifood sectors, with a particular focus on SMEs and startups. It is primarily addressed to non-specialists in Artificial Intelligence who wish to better understand the strategic value of AI and its adoption within organizations, including:
