FBK SALUTE | Competencies profiles in the new organizational forms of general medicine

Discover the meeting cycle organized by FBK Salute

Sala “Luigi Stringa”, FBK Povo

Via Sommarive 18, Povo

General medicine is going through an endless phase of organizational change, which should lead to the redefinition of its function as a privileged access point to the healthcare system.
By now it is certain that, even in order to respond adequately to the relentless increase of real or perceived needs, the general practitioner must evolve from the model of an autonomous and self-sufficient physician to that of a professional, who acts as part of a team of providers who share a profile of well-defined and articulated skills, while maintaining a generalist approach. This evolution also appears necessary to cope with the lack of physicians in the near future.
However, simply aggregating is not enough; health providers need to define together which are the core goals of the team in a given area, what is the knowledge necessary to achieve these goals, and what are the skills they need to ensure.
The APSS, in collaboration with the “FBK per la salute” (FBK for health) program and with the contribution of the Medical Association and the University of Trento, has organized a series of workshops on topics relevant to general medicine with the aim of reaching, through peer discussion, common possible realistic organizational solutions, to start building a practical model of aggregated and multidisciplinary primary care unit, able to best pursue the goal of a global and personalized assistance for all the dimensions of health needs.
