Aging and Quality of Life
Dipartimento di Sociologia e Ricerca Sociale – Università di Trento
Via Giuseppe Verdi 26
The aging of the population is a new phenomenon, which in the present proportions occurs for the first time in history. As with all new phenomena, solutions have not been written yet. We must learn how to handle a new situation and we need plenty of courage and fantasy, as well as the desire to face a new challenge head on.
You also need to have the courage and determination to experiment with new and different proposals to find out what works best. If we do all this, we will be ready and will come to the next few decades having built on the knowledge and experience to maintain a high quality of life, for us and for our loved ones. If we do not, the quality of life of the population will drop and individual and community suffering will increase.
All meetings will be held at the Faculty Lounge of the Department of Sociology and Social Research, Via Verdi 26 at 3.00 pm. Please see the full calendar here.
During the meeting on March 13, 2018, our researcher Massimo Zancanaro will be talking about “Smart Interfaces and Seniors“.
The seminar will introduce the theme of what artificial intelligence is today and how it will change the way technologies are used and designed. The potentials but also the problems that this new approach may present in relation to the ageing population will be outlined. On the one hand, new perspectives are opening up to improve independence and permanence in domestic spaces; on the other hand, new problems will emerge linked to a possible greater stigmatisation of seniority.
