🇬🇧 How to build a Quantum Computer

ABSTRACT: Quantum computers promise to tackle problems beyond the reach of today’s machines, but what are they actually made of? In this talk, we will explore the qubit, the basic building block of a quantum computer, and see how it can be created using real physical systems. Along the way, we will encounter the strange phenomena of superposition and entanglement and discover how they can be turned into a powerful new computing technology.

🇬🇧 From quantum Algorithms to practical applications of quantum computing

ABSTRACT: After introducing the gate-based paradigm for quantum algorithms, the concrete example of Grover’s algorithm will be presented and its speed-up discussed. Then, alternative paradigms such as quantum adiabatic computing and quantum annealing will be covered. The talk will finally discuss the challenges of implementing quantum algorithms on current hardware and review practical applications in optimization and machine learning.
