TRF Workshop 2025

This workshop will bring together participants from academia, industry, government and funding agencies, gathering visions, needs, and points of view on MEMS and NEMS as enablers of 6G, Future Networks (FN) and Edge Intelligence (EI), according to an inclusive and constructive fashion. The venue aims at triggering an unprecedented bottom-up thinking and developing approach, from the most basic Hardware (HW) components, like, Sensors, Actuators & Transducers (SAT), to high-level applications and services, capitalizing to the maximum extent on Microtechnologies and Nanotechnologies, envisaged as a key to fully enable pervasivity of services and intelligence. A new generation of software-resemblant, autonomous, self-reacting, miniaturized low-complexity and low-cost HW components is fostered as pivotal for the transition to 6G, FN, etc. In this sense, the output of the workshop will provide guidance for the future development of such an emerging area of science and technology, both referring to research directions and steering of ad-hoc funding schemes. Areas of interest include, among others, Micro/Nano-based systems (MEMS/NEMS), SAT, materials and technologies, for Brain Type Communications (BTC), Affective Computing (AC), energy autonomous devices, heterogeneous integration, and Computing In Memory (CIM).
