Master in analysis and evaluation of public policies

01/06/2017 The newly created course was made possible thanks to the collaboration of the Institute for Evaluation Research on Public Policies of Fondazione Bruno Kessler with the Ca 'Foscari University of Venice, the Senate of the Republic, the Conference of Presidents of the Legislative Assemblies of the Autonomous Regions and Provinces and the Association for the Development of Evaluation and Analysis of Public Policies

In recent years, the need has emerged to train a professional figure, still not present in the Italian public administration, with multidisciplinary skills and a strong background in the use of quantitative methods: the public policy analyst. A first response to meet this specific need for training was provided by the inauguration in 2017 of the Master in Analysis and Evaluation of Public Policies created thanks to the collaboration of the Institute for Valuation Research on Public Policies of Fondazione Bruno Kessler with the Ca ‘Foscari University of Venice, the Senate of the Republic, the Conference of Presidents of the Legislative Assemblies of the Autonomous Regions and Provinces and the Association for the Development of Evaluation and Analysis of Public Policies.

The core of the training project is Counterfactual Impact Evaluation (CIE), representing internationally an essential methodological point of reference in the production of robust empirical evidence on policy impacts.

The Master intends to contribute to the training of officials from national and regional legislative assemblies, as well as from central and peripheral public administrations, engaged in assisting political bodies in designing and evaluating public policies. Participation is also open to young people with a Master’s degrees or PhDs who are interested in pursuing a career as independent consultants and experts or within research centers and specialized consulting firms; as well as professionals already in business that wish to enrich and enhance their skills.
