The two institutions have formalized a collaboration aimed at sharing resources and expertise to advance joint research, teaching, and training activities. This agreement follows similar ones FBK has signed with the Universities of Trento, Padua, and the Politecnico di Milano.

Through this partnership, Fondazione Bruno Kessler and the University of Bologna will develop structured synergies in scientific research, innovation, and advanced training. The collaboration includes the sharing of research infrastructures and laboratories, the design and delivery of higher education and doctoral programs, teaching initiatives, internships, and internationalization activities. The agreement is grounded in a shared vision: to build strategic alliances between centers of excellence to address present and future challenges by leveraging complementary skills and resources toward common goals.

In particular, the agreement covers joint scientific research and innovation activities at regional, national, and European levels, as well as coordinated participation in funding calls. Projects may involve collaborations between individual researchers and research groups from both institutions, with the potential establishment of joint laboratories and shared infrastructure.

The agreement also addresses doctoral education, exploring opportunities to finance doctoral scholarships dedicated to collaborative research activities agreed upon within the partnership framework.

“The collaborations are based on the sharing of objectives, vision, and responsibilities,” commented Fondazione Bruno Kessler President Ferruccio Resta.  “With the University of Bologna, we strengthen an alliance that sees scientific research as a driver of development and the enhancement of skills as a strategic investment in human capital. This agreement paves the way for projects, initiatives, and programs that offer students real opportunities for growth and future.”

“The University has collaborated for many years with FBK on both cooperative and competitive research projects, co-financing doctoral scholarships and joint doctoral programs, and organizing training initiatives and dissemination activities.”said President Giovanni Molari. “With this new agreement, we aim to consolidate our collaboration and enhance the interaction between research and teaching.”

The agreement also provides for the organization of study seminars and conferences, the dissemination of research results through scientific publications, and the development of joint professional master’s programs.
