Roberto Minerva, Research Fellow at Telecom Sud Paris, will give a speech focusing on large Internet of Things systems aiming at the definition of a viable architecture able to support the interoperability and the programmability of any  Thing.

It will introduce the concept of Virtual Continuum as a means to create an entanglement between any physical object and its digital twin. The entanglement allows to operate on digital copies of objects. This yields to the possibility to augment the functionalities of the physical object by means of APIs and virtualization of its functions. A digital object can be used and can interact in very specialized domains but still it refers to main features states and capabilities of the physical object.

Digital objects can be represented in space and time (spime) in such a way to describe their past behaviour or to predict their future one. Digital objects can, then, be easily transformed into services (Servitization). The speech will describe how to apply this approach to the Cultural Heritage realm in order to build large infrastructures that could be used in order to better understand, “consume” and exploit Cultural Heritage artefacts.
