The second event in FBK-ISR’s 2018 workshop and lecture series “Religion & Innovation” is dedicated to the analysis of the role of religion in video games and, vice versa, the significance of video gaming for religious experience. Speakers from diverse disciplines – Religious Studies, Computer Science, Semiotics, Game Development – will present their current research on the relation between religion and video games, covering topics such as the virtualisation of religious objects by means of emerging computer vision technologies,  the function of religiously significant symbolism, aesthetics and narratives in the context of computer games, as well as methodological questions concerning the study of the relation between religion and video gaming.
