ProMIS – Programma Mattone Internazionale Salute has organized a workshop entitled Artificial Intelligence and Chronic disease management for June 18 and 19, 2018. The event will be an opportunity for discussion on the use of Artificial Intelligence in the management of chronic diseases through the presentation of European and national strategies and policies.

The initiative is the result of a study carried out by the ProMIS subgroup, which is engaged in “encouraging autonomy in patient care and aiming for assistance as close as possible to the patient’s home while ensuring safety and cost-effectiveness” and composed of 5 Regions/Public Administrations (Piemonte, Umbria, Basilicata, Puglia and the Autonomous Province of Trento), as leader of the initiative.

Representatives of the European Institutions, the Ministry of Health, National and International Agencies will take part in the event.

The first day, beginning at 1.30 pm, will be dedicated to the presentation of policies and strategies in the European/national context, of good practices and experiences at European level.

The second day, starting at 9.00 am, will be dedicated to specific talks that will try to make understand and focus on the main aspects to be addressed (economic, security, privacy, etc.), closely linked to the adoption of artificial intelligence in health.

We report in particular two talks:

  • Stefano Forti, Head of the e-Health Unit of FBK-ICT, Tuesday 19 June at 9.50 am “E-health technology platforms: Artificial Intelligence and eHealth”
  • Oscar Mayora, FBK researcher with the eHealth Lab, Monday, June 18 at 4.20 pm “Between You and Your Doctor: Virtual Coaching for Efficient Disease Management”
