Climathon, the Marathon of Ideas Stops Over Also in Trentino
Also Trentino is hosting Climathon, the worldwide event promoted by Climate-KIC, the largest European initiative on climate innovation, which Fondazione Edmund Mach and HIT have recently joined.
In 17 Italian cities and over 200 worldwide, participants will try to develop innovative solutions to solve the challenge that each region has identified. Trentino, the only region home to the Alps, has identified the topic of water. The event is titled “Climate change in the Alps: are we ready? how to deal with the lack and excess of water “.
It is starting on Friday, October 27, at 12:00 pm at CLab Trento. The event is organized by Fondazione Edmund Mach along with HIT-Hub Innovation Trentino and with the patronage of the C3A, in collaboration with the University of Trento, the start-up UNITrento-skopia, FBK, PAT, MUSE and Agenzia di Stampa Giovanile. The event will be featuring FEM President, Andrea Segrè.
Starting with lunch at noon on October 27, and for the next 24 hours, participants will try to identify and test real solutions to address one of the consequences of climate change: the presence of water on the ground, that simulations for the future predict to be modified, with more frequent droughts but also more likely intense events. The CLab Trento stand in Piazza Fiera will become a lab of communication and entrepreneurial ideas with mentors with experience in dealing with these topics and business experts. A group of FBK researchers will provide access to the databases of the European Satellite Platform Copernicus during the event.
But there is more: to face these 24 hours with energy and creativity, the event includes team building opportunities with team games and public speaking sessions; but also a relaxing corner and a night-time sightseeing tour of the city in search of the water places of the present and of the past. No specific background or affiliation with a pre-established group is needed. The event also includes a junior section, which will take place on the 27, dedicated to high school students from Trentino. The winning project will be individually supported in a process of development within the Trentino innovation system. In addition, the group that comes in first will be invited to participate in the Climate-KIC Italy event on November 9 in Rimini at Ecomondo, the leading green and circular economy fair in the Euro-Mediterranean area, which in 2016 had 105,574 visitors, 1,200 companies, over 422 million media contacts
