Trento will be hosting the first Italian soccer hackathon October 14 and 15
It is the first Soccer Hackathon in Italy, the second worldwide, after the one organized by Manchester City and the world’s first ever Hackathon organized by a Soccer Federation. Scheduled in Trento on October 14 and 15 2017, the event is being organized by the Italian Soccer Federation, in collaboration with the Province government, the University and Trentino Sviluppo. To this end, the Province Government, on the proposal of Councillor Tiziano Mellarini, approved a protocol of cooperation between the four subjects. The EIT Digital (European Institute of Technology), Microsoft’s Global Sport Innovation Center and a number of international technology partners are collaborating on the event as well.
The Hackathon will be attended by experts from various fields of computer science and the world of soccer: software developers, programmers and graphic designers, economists, managers and innovators in general with the goal of defining business projects, prototypes of technology solutions or applications specifically linked to soccer. Two are the threads identified by FIGC (the Soccer federation) on which the participants will focus: enhancing the relationship between the Federation and its over 1.3 million members, and match analysis, ie how to analyze soccer related Big Data in soccer.
“For the Autonomous Province of Trento, the Hackathon of Italian Soccer – explained Councillor Mellarini – represents an opportunity to bear out Trentino nationwide, as a land that stands for innovation applied to the world of sports, considering the broader innovation aspects that characterize the recent Trentino legislation on sports, which has been identified as an excellent venue for this initiative as Italy’s most active Province in sports, in recent years at the top of the sports promotion (sports opportunity creation index) rankings, published annually by Il Sole 24 Ore, but also for the ability it demostrated in the organization of international sports events such as Marcialonga, Universiade Trentino 2013 and world championships of various specialties. ”
The two winning teams will receive a prize of € 5,000 each, the opportunity to incubate their ideas in a certified incubator (WyLab for the “match analysis” challenge and TrentinoSviluppot for the “member Community” challenge). Click HERE to view the rules.
