My first 15 years of Quantum Science in Trento and my vision for the future of Q@TN

I will start the seminar by briefly reviewing the scientific activities that I have been carrying out on different directions of Quantum Science since my move to Trento in 2003.
After sketching the highlights of my own group on quantum fluids of light and atoms, topological photonics, and analogue models of gravity, I will outline the new collaborative activities that have started within the Q@TN laboratory and their perspectives of development.
I will conclude with a presentation of my general vision of Q@TN and my strategy to fully unchain its scientific and technological potential.

Date and location: 10:30 – 11:30, Friday, March 1, 2019 @Sala Stringa, Fondazione Bruno Kessler

Nanoscale quantum optics: opportunities for quantum science and technology

Nanoscale quantum optics explores quantum phenomena in nanophotonics systems for advancing fundamental knowledge in nano and quantum optics and for harnessing the laws of quantum physics for the development of new photonics-based technologies. We review our recent progress in the field with emphasis on three main research directions: single-photon emitters, nanoscale sensors and nanospectroscopy. Next, we briefly discuss a recent market research study carried out in the framework of the COST Action Nanoscale Quantum Optics aimed at analyzing the technological implications of nanoscale quantum optics for quantum communication, sensing and metrology. Finally, a vision for the Q@TN Lab will be presented.
