A three-year convention between Fondazione Bruno Kessler and the Consorzio dei Comuni Trentini (Consortium of Trentino Municipalities) has been signed today in Povo and a first project dedicated to the collection and dissemination of local data in digital format has been launched.

(v.l.) To swing the doors of research wide open to Trentino’s Municipalities for the application of technological innovation to the local territory: this is the philosophy behind the convention signed in Povo (Trento) today by the president of Fondazione Bruno Kessler (FBK), Andrea Zanotti, and the president of Consorzio dei Comuni trentini, Marino Simoni.
Under this agreement, initially intended to last three years, the first project is being launched now regarding the supply by all of Trentino’s municipal authorities of digital data concerning the environment and the territory.
Using the most advanced software systems, a model will be created for the collection of, access to and free use by citizens of public data such as information on roads, borders, toponymy, utilities and public networks. The prototype, that falls under a specific protocol also signed today by Marino Simoni and by the director of FBK Information Technology Centre, Paolo Traverso , will involve several municipalities as pilot cases and will be subsequently applied to all of Trentino’s municipalities.
FBK will see to the operational management of the project and to the technological definition of the model, while the Consortium will act as liaison with the municipalities to be involved in the pilot project and as their consultant with regard to the correct procedures for using the system.
The programme’s coordinators are Bruno Caprile for Fondazione Bruno Kessler and Walter Merler for Consorzio dei Comuni Trentini.
