History on the front page

What power do journalists have in determining the success of a book and the popularity of an author? Can they even influence researchers to focus their work on certain themes that seem most likely to be taken in by the public? This was sicussed with journalists Roberto Righetto from Avvenire and Antonio Carioti from Corriere della Sera on February 8 during the first meeting of “History on the front page”, organized in Trento by the Istituto storico italo-germanico (Italian-Germanic Historical Institute-FBK-Isig) of the Fondazione Bruno Kessler (Bruno Kessler Foundation), directed by Paolo Pombeni. The series of meetings “History on the front page” features culture editors from the major national newspapers and the directors of local newspapers from the Trentino region who discuss the topic with the new generation of FBK-Isig researchers.
